Tonight crazy Polish fans had an opportunity to go through every emotional state – after five sets and almost 3 hours, Poland beat USA team.
Poland opened this game with confidence and they took a lead for the first TTO (8:4). After that, Bartek Kurek was blocked and thanks to Anderson USA reduced that distance. Clark scored on the wing (9:10). Guests had a series of five points and Anastasi asked for his time out. Poles had some issue in defence. Jakub Jarosz scored from the wing and Nowakowski worked on service (14:16). Poland got back their leading. The last ball was controversial, but after the video verification the point was given to the hosts – Poland won the first part 25:22.
Anastasi’s team didn’t slow down after a break (4:1), but the Americans made up for it in the matter of seconds. Paul Lotmas was replaced by Antonio Ciarelli. On the first TTO Poland was ahead again. Winiarski scored an ace. One blocking player didn’t stop Bartosz Kurek. Anderson and Ciarelli built another successful action (10:11). The game carried on equally. After the second TTO, Americans started to overcome their opponents and they kept it that way till the end – it was 1:1.
This time, USA started the set with leverage 4:1. American service and Polish mistakes only made this situation better for Speraw and his team. Michal Kubiak was sent on the court instead of Michal Winiarski and Grzegorz Kosok replaced Marcin Mozdzonek. However, Poles couldn’t rise in this part anymore (4:16) and Americans could and did use it perfectly. Carson Clark closed the game with the result quite embarrassing for Poland.
Poles didn’t gave up and earned 6 points of advantage for the opening of the 4th set (7:1). Jakub Jarosz was blocked twice and Americans was suddenly close with their 6 points. Few minutes later it was 13:13 and the game got more exciting. Bartosz Kurek killed on service and then finished the action with strong attack. Poland managed to regained small leading – 16:14. After an extremely thrilling finish, they closed the fourth set and the game was still on.
Thanks to good game of Jakub Jarosz and some mistakes of USA, Poland scored from the beginning. Lukasz Zygadlo moved his players in the middle (8:4). In a few minutes, USA balanced the result (9:9). Tie break was another horror tonight. Both teams had many chances to win, but finally Poland made 12 thousands fans very happy by winning 18:16.
