A while ago we informed you about Cristian Savani going to Fudan University Shanghai. This year Chinese league will host a lot of top stars.
As said before, Cristian Savani had a lot of options this year. As always, great clubs went on the ring to fight for this fine player. Dinamo Moscow, Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle, Fenerbahce Istanbul – these are just several examples of big volley “companies” that were trying to hire Italian star after his departure from Lube Banca Marche Macerata. Finally, he signed a contract with Fudan University Shanghai. He is going to help them to win another national title.
Another Chinese club, BAIC Motors Beijing, has taken some serious steps in order to strengthen it’s team. First of all Wout Wijsmans decided to move from Serie A. Belgian receiver had a long and successfull history with Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo, for which he worked from 2003 till now. Scudetto, Italian Cup and the silver medal of the Champions League 2013 – those are only some of his victories along the way. Now the Italian chapter is closed and it’s time to one more exotic experience with Motors Beijing.
However, he won’t be alone in this exotic country. David Lee is another contracted star. American middle blocker came from Zenit Kazan to Shanghai. He was playing in Zenit only for one season, but he also tasted some more Superleague with Dinamo Moscow or Lokomotiv Novosibirsk for example. With Kazan he earned the bronze medal of the last Champions League, but it was considered rather a failure.
Last but not least – Fred Winters. Canadian player remains in China and he also will support BAIC Motors Beijing. Winters just came back from Argentina, where his national team took a part in the Final Six of World League, which was a huge success to this group.
